Sticking to Your New Health Journey
Posted on January 27 2017
As the new year slowly creeps in, plenty of people are beginning to focus their attention on self restoration.
Whether you're getting on board with a new cleanse
and diet or trying to find some inner peace, it's easy to lose that great momentum after a short time. We live in a culture of fast results and fads that make it difficult to stay on track
with a new healthy routine.
Fitness classes and workshops have a huge turnover during the early months of each new year and see a large drop-out rate within a few short months.
To keep you motivated and feeling your best, we have some helpful tips to keep you on the bandwagon.
Take It Slow
Instead of throwing yourself into too many changes at once, try beginning your wellness journey a little slower. When you try to radically change your lifestyle it can be extremely difficult to maintain. If you're starting a new diet, start by swapping some healthy choices into your meals instead of starting a full on overhaul. Gradually changing your diet will put less strain on your body, giving your metabolism a welcome boost.
If you're incorporating meditation
into your new year routine, start with ten minutes of relaxation each day and slowly increase the duration.
Gather a Great Support System
Everyone needs encouragement
from time to time. Looking to friends and family for some extra support
as you tailor your new lifestyle isn't a sign of weakness, it's a leap in the right direction! Whether you need a friend to take classes with you, someone to help you go food shopping or just some extra motivation
to get moving, a support system is important to keep you on track as you move forward.
For every big step you make toward your larger goals, don't hesitate to reward yourself.
Instead of rewarding yourself in ways that will hurt your progress, try choosing rewards that help you push on. If you're dieting, working out more or on a cleanse, reward yourself with fitness gear
that you've had your eye on. This will give you a push to continue and encourage yourself with a couple perks along the way.
Start each day with some affirmations.
