It might have a funny name, but the beauty benefits of Ylang Ylang essential oil is no joke.

This essential oil is harvested from the tropical star shaped flower of the Ylang Ylang tree. This floral scent is a staple in luxurious bath products and natural cosmetics. You'll also see this essential oil in tons of perfumes as a key note because of it's naturally sweet and romantic fragrance.

Ylang Ylang is a favorite of natural cosmetic companies as they can avoid synthetic fragrances while maintaining the integrity of their ingredients for a beautifully scented finished product. Lush Cosmetics is a big Ylang Ylang fan and this extract can be found in some of their popular bath bombs and shower gels.
Add Young Living's Ylang Ylang oil to a steamy bath or shower, mix it into your moisturizer or in your DIY cosmetics for a nourishing boost for your hair, skin and nails. This essential oil also makes a great substitute for perfumes that can dry or damage skin with harsh chemical fillers or additives. Dab a little on your wrists and behind your ears and you have the perfect amount of fragrance that moves with you.
Ylang Ylang essential oil is perfect for a relaxing aromatherapy session when diffused during yoga or to wind down before bed at the end of a long day. It can also be diluted with distilled water and a few drops of rose water in a spray bottle for an all natural room and fabric mist.

Emotional Health

In search of some anxiety relief? Ylang Ylang has been used for centuries as a powerful antidepressant and remedy for chronic anxiety. This scent uplifts your mood and keeps you feeling happy and bright. Many people who have experienced a nervous breakdown or emotional trauma have experienced consistent improvements in their recovery by using Ylang Ylang as an aromatherapy tool.
This oil is also a great aphrodisiac and has been known to help you relax and start feeling a little more romantic. Stress takes it's toll on a healthy sex life and when you banish stress in the bedroom, libido usually gets a boost.

Physical Health

Ylang Ylang has also been used as an effective way to reduce blood pressure naturally. In essential oil form, it has been prescribed as a natural alternative to prescription medication. It can be used as an antiseptic and can help battle some internal infections. As with many essential oil blends, the side affects are usually slim to none and are outweighed by the benefits.

Whether you're using it for an all natural alternative for your homemade cosmetics or finding it in your favorite natural products, this is one essential oil that is a must for vibrant and moisturized skin and healthy hair.
